Reward Yourself, You Deserve It

Of course, like always, rewarding yourself for doing or achieving well must be limited. Otherwise, you'll end up overindulging, and instead of a reward, it starts to feel more like a punishment. I like to reward myself from time to time based on the following:

  • If I completed something that I normally wouldn't or that is helping my mental/overall health.
  • If I've been consistent on something personal/health-wise and have for long enough time to reward myself.
  • Rewards are limited to every month, every 2nd month (this helps prevent me from making it a regular thing or habit.
Why do I self-reward? Well, depriving yourself for long periods of time can be very beneficial; however, it's not a long-term solution, and life is about balance, not restriction. It also makes what I'm rewarding myself for more meaningful than a "goof job" and a pat on the back from myself. It motivates me to keep up the good work that I've been working on.

Since I've been doing so well with taking my meds properly and at the same time being able to handle whatever I may be stressing about, I have decided that since tomorrow I have a day off, I'm going to reward myself with a present on my way home from work and also get myself a little McDonald's for dinner. I don't eat fast food often, which is why it's one of the ways I reward myself. I also like to make sure I don't work the next day when I do, just in case I get tummy issues, even though I am now more aware of what items I can have that won't upset my stomach. Also, since I'll be rewarding myself with McDonald's the entire month of February, I will be eating healthier like I have been and don't plan on using McDonald's to reward myself for at least a few months.
