Of course, like always, rewarding yourself for doing or achieving well must be limited. Otherwise, you'll end up overindulging, and instead of a reward, it starts to feel more like a punishment. I like to reward myself from time to time based on the following:
- If I completed something that I normally wouldn't or that is helping my mental/overall health.
- If I've been consistent on something personal/health-wise and have for long enough time to reward myself.
- Rewards are limited to every month, every 2nd month (this helps prevent me from making it a regular thing or habit.
Since I've been doing so well with taking my meds properly and at the same time being able to handle whatever I may be stressing about, I have decided that since tomorrow I have a day off, I'm going to reward myself with a present on my way home from work and also get myself a little McDonald's for dinner. I don't eat fast food often, which is why it's one of the ways I reward myself. I also like to make sure I don't work the next day when I do, just in case I get tummy issues, even though I am now more aware of what items I can have that won't upset my stomach. Also, since I'll be rewarding myself with McDonald's the entire month of February, I will be eating healthier like I have been and don't plan on using McDonald's to reward myself for at least a few months.
